Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi, a philanthropist and North Central Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has declared interest in representing Kogi East senatorial district in the 2023 general election.

In an interview with newsmen on Thursday, in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, Abdullahi said he is offering to serve the people of the district because they deserve quality representation.

The NNPP Cheiftain, who is popularly called Elephant, noted that he is qualified to lead the people and would deploy his international exposure to attract development to the district.

“I want to represent Kogi East at the senate because I believe, and my people do too, that I have all the qualities required of a good representative and we don’t want our communities denied of this advantage of adequate and proper representation,” he said.

“Kogi East is where I come from and they are the ones I pray to represent. First, I will generate employment and provide for the people the basic things of life which I think is not rocket science to do.

“Secondly, we have land all over the district; we do mechanized farming to produce enough food that can crash the prices of food in the market and then, the excess food we produce will be processed. Now, how do you process? You set up factories and these factories will provide jobs for the young ones. Now, you are producing food and you are also employing.

“The other one will be education. My plan is to get science graduates from this zone and pay them higher than government is paying the teachers.

“I will use private resources to pay these teachers and they will in turn help the government teachers to teach our younger ones.

“If you do this for two to three years, you will see a dramatic change in those leaving secondary schools and that will be a solid foundation as they go to the universities and make good grades and become relevant in the society. These and more are my plans, if given the opportunity to represent the zone.
