Hon. Aminu Isa Usman, a House of Representatives aspirant under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), in Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituecy of Kogi State, has said that agriculture would be given top priority when elected in 2023.
Usman, a farmer, stated this on Tuesday when he visited the NNPP State Secretariat in Lokoja.
He said that the sector have the potential of providing adequate jobs for the teeming unemployed in the Federal Constituecy through direct and indirect involvement in farming and its value chain.
“Aside job creation, the agriculture sector has the capacity to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State, thereby making it self relient.
“This is why I am going to make it my top priority if I become the House of Representatives member in 2023,” he said.
Usman said he would support farmers in the Constituecy with soft loans and other farming tools so as to motivate them to take farming activities as a serious business.
“My focus is to create more jobs in the Federal Constituecy through agriculture. So, I will do everything possible within my power to make it viable,” he said.
