Idris Turaki Emerges NNPP House Of Reps Flag Bearer For Lokoja/Kogi Fed. Constituecy

Hon. Abdullahi Idris Turak, on Friday emerged as candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituecy primary election in Kogi State.

The contenders for the House of Representatives seat were Abdullahi Idris Turaki and Pastor Zacheaus Jonathan.

At the end of the exercise, Pastor Zacheaus Jonathan scored 14 votes, while Abdullahi Idris Turaki who emerged flag bearer of the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituecy seat scored 71 votes.

The returning officer, Abdullahi Aliyu, declared Turaki as the winner of the NNPP House of Representatives primary.

Turaki in his acceptance speech, appreciated the delegates and promised that he will not disappoint them . “I reaffirm my commitment to reciprocate this love you have shown me today. In this contest, there is no winner and there is no loser”, he stressed.

“My special thanks goes to our party leader, Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi, a.k.a. Elephant for his firm grip of the party in the state.

In his remarks, representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr. Abdulwahab MJ, described the election which produced Turaki as the flag-bearer of NNPP in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituecy as free, fair and credible.

He equally expressed the readiness of the Commission in organising free and fair general elections in 2023.
