A philanthropist, Hon. Muhammed Ibukun Abubakar Bukky, has reportedly picked the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) nomination form for Kogi Western Senatorial District.
The development is an indication that the Bukky has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NNPP.
Bukky was said to have picked the form, and that of expression of interest, on Saturday.
NationalWatch quoted the Kogi State NNPP Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Musa Audu Dankano as saying: “Yes, he (Bukky) had picked our forms, he has joined us.”
The former APC Cheiftain is expected to formally announce his defection when he return from Abuja later this week.
Over the past few months, some APC aspirants have been at loggerheads with the party leadership over an alleged imposition imposition of candidates and this has forced a considerable number of the aspirants to dump the APC for NNPP including a serving member of House of Representatives from Ajaokuta Federal Constituecy.
Bukky was among those rumoured to have been plotting his defection when about 32 aspirants left the ruling party recently.
