Kogi APC Primary Elections: Gov Bello Rejects ‘Unity List’, Warns Against Imposition Of Candidates

The story of some special candidates, whose names have been penned down in a list called “unity list” and said to be enjoying the support of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been laid to rest has the governor rejected the list and warned against imposition of candidates

The unity list, according to sources was drawn by some of the governor’s aides.

But Governor Bello at an enlarged meeting of the APC stakeholders and aspirants in Abuja, yesterday, told the gathering that had never at anytime asked anyone to draw a unity list.

He warned that such things as imposition of candidates would no longer be allowed in the party.

Bello said, “We expect that the primary elections will be keenly contested and its outcome not pre-determined. It is better for all the contestants to face the delegates and let the delegates choose their leaders in a free, fair and transparent primary elections.

“We should allow the contestants to be elected on their individual merit rather than being handpicked by some godfathers.

“All the contestants bought forms and indicated their interests to vie for the different elective positions. They should be allowed to contest the election in a free, fair and transparent manner to avoid any crisis,” he said.
