APC, PDP Primaries In Kogi, A Show Of Shame — NNPP

By Amuda Dan Sulaiman Fab

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), in Kogi State has described as a show of shame the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) primaries which were marred by alleged widespread irregularities, violence and imposition of candidates.

State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Musa Audu Dankano, in a statement issued in Lokoja, wondered why a party primary, which is purely an internal matter that ought to be conducted under a peaceful and brotherly atmosphere, could degenerate into blood-letting.

The APC and PDP, according to Dankano, do not have anything to offer Kogites, but only craving for power.

“This show of shame by the APC and PDP is criminal as well as a great threat to the peace and security of Kogi people, who are already traumatized by the very poor response of the State government to the high level of insecurity across the state.

“Kogi people know for a fact that the mission of the APC and PDP is to terrorize the people with the intent to preventing them from participating in the electoral process ahead of the 2023 general elections, having realized that there is no way the two political parties can win elections again, under a free, fair and credible process.

“We commiserate with all the families and relatives of persons who were wounded as a result of the violent during the primary elections of the two failed parties. We however call on the Kogi State Commissioner of Police to immediately track down the culprits who carried the shooting and their sponsors and make them face the full wrath of the law as a deterrent to others.

“We will take over the mantle of leadership at all levels of polity in Kogi come 2023.”

Dankano, however, called on Kogites to  take the bold step and join the NNPP.

He said: “It’s not always an easy decision to leave the party where there is plenty of money and big names. However, every decision must be taken in the interest of Kogi State. I, therefore urge well-meaning Kogites to join the NNPP in the rebuilding of our great state.”
