The coalition of All Progressives Congress Support Groups (APC) in Kogi State have protested against the emergence of Ahmed Usman Ododo as the candidate of the party.
The groups expressed their disappointment and disapproval of the primaries in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Support Groups, Onimisi Salami.
The statement made available to National Watch in Lokoja alleged that the whole process was not in consonance with the APC guidelines for the nomination of candidate for the 2023 governorship election.
They dismissed the claims that a gubernatorial primary took place on April 14, 2023, saying that the exercise was null and void and should be set aside.
“We have written an appeal to the party’s NWC for a redress of this fraud to save the APC in Kogi State.
“Our grounds of appeal centre on the fact that there was no primary and results were merely allocated to the governor’s annointed aspirant, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“The said results were allocated by political appointees as well as Local Government Chairmen,” they alleged.
The group recalled that they had raised fundamental issues at a press briefing on April 12, and alerted the world about plans by Governor Yahaya Bello to impose Ahmed Usman Ododo, the state local government auditor general on the party.
