The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Umar, on Thursday led other dignitaries to attend the fidau prayer for Hajiya Habiba Jumai Abdul Dina, wife of Alhaji Abdul Dina in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Other dignitaries that graced the event included the Deputy Governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hon. Sam Ranti Abenemi, a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Alfa Imam, Member representing Lokoja 1 constituency, Hon. Tijani Shehu Bin Ebaiya, top government officials, politicians, traditional rulers, Islamic Clerics and friends of deceased husband.
Hajiya Habiba Jumai Abdul Dina died on Thursday 15, June 2023, in Abuja, after a brief illness and was buried the same day.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Muhammad Shaban, who extolled the virtues of the deceased.
In a brief sermon, the Cheif Imam reminded all of God’s commandment that they should take good care of their parents, dead or alive.
He admonished children to remember their dead parents through acts of charity and kindness to the needy.
The Chief Imam prayed Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Al-janatul firdaos.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Umar, urged the people of Lokoja and beyond to use the occasion of the unfortunate incident to forgive one another, embrace peaceful co-existence and adopt harmonious working relationship for the progress of the community and nation at large.
He also stressed that the lifetime of the late Jumai should serve as a lesson to everyone to be close to God, prayerful and be committed to good deeds to mankind.
In his reaction, husband of the deceased, Alhaji Abdul Dina, thanked all for their condolences and visits during the mourning period stressing that, “I sincerely appreciate the honour done to me and prayers offered for my late wife.”
He also thanked all traditional rulers, top government functionaries, associations, grassroot movements, members Dankwo Development Forum (DDF) and clerics among others for their supports and fervent prayers.
He however urged indigenes to always love one another in order to sustain the exciting peaceful and harmonious atmosphere enjoyed in the State. “I will sincerely miss my wife, she was a unique factor not only to me but to the entire family”, he added.
