The immediate past FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has congratulated the member representing Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Hon Abdullahi Halims on his emergence as Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

Dr Aliyu, in a statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja, described Hon Halims’ emergence as well deserved.

She said Halim’s emergence underscores the confidence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his colleagues in the House of Representatives in his long-standing legislative experience.

The former Minister expressed hope and charged the Federal lawmaker to use the attributes that earned him the position to strengthen his commitment as a strong voice for the independence of the legislature.

She urged the newly-appointed Deputy Majority Leader to continue to uphold the democratic tenets of the Rule of Law and protect the interest and wellbeing of the people.

While congratulating other new leaders of the parliament on their election, Aliyu reminded every member of both the Senate and the House of Representatives of their responsibilities to their constituents, which, she said, is to put national interest before their individual political interest.

Irrespective of the political mix through which the presiding officers emerged, she noted, the 10th National Assembly should never lose focus of its role as a partner in progress with the other arms of government, especially the executive arm.
