The Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kogi State Command, Mr Taiwo Yunusa Musa, has bow out of active service.
The pulling out parade took place at the Command’s Headquarters along Mounti-Patti Road, Lokoja.
Musa, who was the Kogi State NIS Comptroller pulled out of active service after 35 years of meritorious service.
At the well attended ceremony, the representative of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs Aminat Usman, described Musa as a very active officer, ‘one can always rely on,’ adding that the state enjoyed the service he rendered.
“Retirement from active duty is natural and inevitable end of service for every serving personnel and it begins to count from the day you join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Usman added.
The pulling out parade which was part of the NIS tradition for retired senior officers, was well attended by all Service Chiefs and senior personnel in the state.
Speaking with newsmen, Musa, said “I feel honoured, my joy is complete. I feel fulfilled after 35 years of movement from one state to another, leaving the family behind and all the issues that came with the job,. So, all glory goes to God.
“Tremendous changes were made under my leadership with the assistance of officers and men.
“I am very proud today. I am leaving the Service better than I met it. I have made my contributions and I pray that successive leaders will improve on what we have done,” he said.
The outgoing Comptroller passed the baton of leadership to Deputy Comptroller, T. A Adetula, who becomes the acting Comptroller.
Until now, Adetula was the Passport Control Officer, Kogi State Command.
Adetula who promised to sustain the good legacies and continue to build on the achievements on ground, solicited the cooperation of staff and officers of the command, just as he sought synergy and collaboration of sister security agencies in the state to ensure the security of the state.
He also assured that foreigners living and doing business in the state would be closely monitored to ensure they do not engage in acts capable of undermining national economic interest and peaceful coexistence.
He therefore urged the contractor handling the NIS permanent site to speedy-up the job so as to enable them move from the temporary site to the new headquarters.
Highlight of the event was presentation of a brand new washing machine to the outgoing Comptroller by the management staff.
