The Kog State chapter of Concerned Citizens of Nigeria (CCN), has demanded the arrest and prosecution of Yetunde Shuabu and her accomplices for their blatant disregard for the law and their incitement to violence.
The group, made the demand in a statement signed by Mr. Segun Emmanuel and made available to National Watch Newspaper/Tv on Tuesday
The statement reads in part: “Urgent Call for Justice.
“We, the concerned citizens of Nigeria, demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of Yetunde Shuabu and her accomplices for their blatant disregard for the law and their incitement to violence.
“Yesterday, in a TV broadcast, Ms. Shuabu, who claims to be an executive and spokesperson for the United Front for Democracy (a self-proclaimed civil society organization), made false and misleading statements about the SDP’s gubernatorial election petition. She falsely accused the SDP and its candidate of filing their petition after the constitutional deadline, and she baselessly alleged that the judiciary is compromised.
“These statements are not only false but also deeply irresponsible. They could have serious consequences, including jeopardizing the ongoing legal process and inciting violence. In fact, it has been reported that the secretary of the tribunal was attacked and abducted on the same evening that Ms. Shuabu made her remarks.
“It is important to note that Ms. Shuabu is not a credible spokesperson for the civil society. Despite claiming that her organization is non-partisan, it has been revealed that she is a card-carrying member of the APC and that she was caught on video celebrating the APC candidate’s controversial victory.
“We call on the relevant authorities to immediately investigate Ms. Shuabu and her accomplices and bring them to justice. We also demand that the federal government intervene to ensure the safety of the tribunal secretary and all those involved in the election petition process.
“We cannot allow individuals like Ms. Shuabu to undermine our democracy and our rule of law. We must stand together to defend our rights and hold those who seek to exploit the system accountable.
