It is generally said that politics in it’s practical form consist of plurality of thoughts and ideas. Simply put, political gladiators utilize politics as a potential vehicle to market their views of how to move their societies forward progressively.
In essence, anyone one or group of persons canvassing for the votes of the electorate must have a well thought out blueprint (manifesto) of how he or they intend to lead the society within a given time frame.
As can be noted, though the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), remains the dominant political party, it’s hold on the political life of the country is being challenged by other major opposition parties.
One of such is the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), whose resurgence and popularity is being coordinated by no less a person other than Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano State.
Owing to a number of factors, the party made an appreciable showing last year’s election and was able to win Kano State so convincingly.
Since the coming of Gov.. Abba Kabir Yusuf as the governor, he has been carrying out the populist and people oriented programmes of the NNPP and the Kwankwassiyya Movement.
Due to the crushing defeat it inflicted on the APC, which subsequently bruised the ego of its leadership, the party (APC) has not relented in it desire to snatch the state through the back door.
It almost did through the judiciary which churned out controversial judgments on the outcome of the election but for the vigilance of the people of the state and the media.
Now that reason has prevailed, the judiciary has corrected itself, the leadership of the APC has now changed tactics and it is currently on an empty and futile exercise in wooing both Sen. Kwankwaso and the governor into the party.
Recently, the National Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was reported in the media as wooing Kwankwaso and Yusuf, calling on them to join his party. This itself is provocative, deceitful and a big joke.
Also, there are insinuations and deliberate concocted lies being spread in some quarters, that Sen. Kwankwaso entered into an agreement with Pres. Tinubu and other leaders of APC to dump NNPP and join APC.
Let it be told that, there is no such an agreement, Sen. Kwankwaso didn’t enter any deal with anybody in the APC. The NNPP national leader will not leave his party (NNPP) rather the former governor will work with other like – minds across the country to strengthen opposition coalition, in order to prevent the country from turning into one party dictatorship and also to save the country from many challenges currently confronting the country.
My position on this is premised on the sharp differences that exist between the NNPP gladiators and those of the APC and that Kwankwaso and Governor Kabir Yusuf will not fall for the bait of the APC to join anti people’s party.
There is a clear ideological differences that exist between the two parties. While the NNPP is pro-masses, the APC by all indications is a conservative party.
This is because the APC has demonstrated that it is a party out to further impoverish Nigerians. Unfortunately, the man making the call has been caught on camera collecting bribes in the past and should not lead a national party.
On the other hand, Kwankwaso has continued to live above board in all the public offices that he had served. Rather use public office to enrich himself, he has used it to better the lots of kano people and Nigerians.
What is at stake is between light and darkness, while light serves as a symbol of life, happiness, prosperity, and darkness, on the other hand, is associated with chaos, death, and the underworld.
