Lokoja LG Boss Visits Dangote Plant, Seek Collaboration On Security

The Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu today led a high powered delegation to the Obajana Plant of the Dangote Cement PLC in Lokoja Local Government.

The Chairman and his entourage were received by Engr Haruna Adinoyi, General Manager and Head of Human Resource, Nigeria Plants and other top management staff.

The Chairman is his address commend the management for receiving the team on short notice. He stated that the visit became imperative in view of the recent activities of kidnappers in the communities around the company. “Our communities have been relatively safe until recently and this coincide with the influx of people coming to Obajana and it’s environ in the guise of looking for work or looking for place to farm.”

The Chairman urge the Dangote Cement PLC to partner with Lokoja Local Government to tackle the problem. While the Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo led state government is working on a wholistic approach, we must also play our part, he added.

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu commended the company for the improved CSR compared to his last visit, he urged Dangote to take the issues of CSR and employment of indigenes very serious. “We always see and hear of the massive structures and facilities built by Dangote in other States and Tertiary Institutions yet we none can be pointed to in Kogi State and Lokoja in particular.”

Engr. Haruna Adinoyi who spoke on behalf of the Plant Manager, welcomed the Chairman and his team to the facility.

In his response, Engr. Haruna announced that they are open to partnership and collaboration with the Local Government as it is in their own interest and safety too. We are doing our best and are fully involved in patrols along the major way. “Incidentally, like you, Security is also our topmost agenda. I can assure you that we are open minded and looking forward for means and ways to collaborate.”

Engr. Haruna assured the delegation that all the requests will be presented to the Management.

In the Chairman’s entourage were the Director of Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Omuwa, Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Egamana and other Committee Members, Lokoja Local Government Treasurer, DPM and the Ag. HOD Works among others.

Highlight of the visit was the official presentation of a document detailing requests of areas of partnership and collaboration between the Local Government and Dangote Cement PLC.
