The Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria League of Imams, NLI, has suspended weekly Jumaat prayers in the state indefinitely.
This announcement was made in a communique signed by the Kogi State Secretary, NLI, Imam Ibrahim Yusuf Abdullah in Lokoja on Wednesday and made available to newsmen.
“In view of the current health issue i.e. COVID 19 crisis, couple with the Federal and Kogi State government directive the Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria League of Imams after consultation with government officials, traditional rulers and medical personnel hereby suspend the weekly Jum’ah Prayers in the state.
“This will Inshaa Allah take effect from Fiday, 27 March, 2020 till further notice.
“We pray to Allah to protect us from this pandemic and guide us to the right path,” the statement read.
While praying for protection from Allah, the NLI called for cooperation and understanding of worshipers and the general public.
