Covid-19: Muhammed Yaro Tasks Kogi West Residents On Total Compliance To Govt’s Directive

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kogi West, Hon. Mohammed Yaro, has advised all residents of Kogi West and Kogites in general to obey government directives and measures put in place to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

While addressing journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday, after meeting with his supporters behind closed doors with some other top members of the PDP, Yaro said he was in support of any decision taken by the government, including a complete lockdown, if necessary, to halt the spread of the virus as he encouraged Nigerians to do the same.

In a bid to address the spread of COVID-19, the Federal and Kogi State governments had recently banned religious gathering of over 50 worshippers.

The PDP Chieftain, said adhering to public health directives is in line with one of the injunctions of Allah.

“It should be noted that these measures are all almost exactly similar to the ones that were taken when such kind of pandemic took place during the reign of Caliph Umar (r.a.) in the 18th year after Hijra which caused the death of several companions of the Prophet (s.a.w). That was ta’uun amwaas (the Amwaas epidemic),” he added.

“It is strongly advised that all segments of the society, including religious bodies adhere strictly to all public health directives and regulations provided by the competent authorized agencies such as Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Federal and State Ministries of Health regarding COVID-19.

“This is in line with the Qura’nic injunction, ‘O You who believe, obey Allah and the Messenger, and those in authority among you’ (Qur’an 4:59). It is also in line with the injunction of Allah in Chapter 16, verse 43 that says: ‘…..So ask those who possess knowledge if you do not know.’

Speaking further Yaro, advised residents to take adequate precaution against the spate of Coronavirus pandemic.

Yaro who hails from Budan in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State, noted that Fever, Nasal Congestion, Sore throat, Diarrhoea, Dry Cough, Aches and Pains were among the symptoms to watch out for, by people in form of caution as handed down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other stakeholders, on the containment of the scourge.

“It is important that I advise you all to ensure you strictly adhere to the preventive measures regarding personal hygiene both in the work premises and at home, maintain Social Distance in public places, avoid crowded locations, keep members of your family at home, wash your hands, observe the no Handshake rule and make use of Sanitizers.” he said
