A Gegu-Beki born civil engineer and the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir-Gegu, was on Friday turbaned as the Ondaki-Ireku of Koton-Karfe, by the Ohimegye – Igu of Koton-Karfe Kingdom, HRM Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto.

The Ohimegye-Igu while turbaning him said, “This traditional title Ondaki-Ireku, ( Daudu), means a leader in Igu Kingdom, it is another responsibility for you to continue good works and I pray that may Allah guide you and give you wisdom”.

He described Bashir-Gegu as a born philanthropist whose impact is felt in Koton-Karfe Kidnappers and the entire Kogi state “He is one of us, Engr Bashir-Gegu has been actually commendable in his attitudes, works, behavior and welfarism. He always assist the needy and whenever he has, he look down at the people who are in need”.

The Chairman of Kogi Local Government Area, Hon. Isah Abdulkareem, a.k.a ECOMOG, described the title as well-deserved, saying Engr Bashir-Gegu was a model of humility and hardwork.

The council boss appreciated the monarch for identifying with Engr Bashir-Gegu for the title, saying the title would spur him to do more for Koton-Karfe kingdom and the country at large.

Engr Bashir-Gegu who hosted several dignitaries and guests to a reception at his country home in Gegu-Beki, in his remark appreciated the Ohimegye-Igu and the entire traditional rulers for considering him worthy of the title and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
