An APC group under the auspices of Western Senatorial District Democratic Front, (WSDDF), has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dissociate itself from alleged moves by leaders of African Democratic Congress (ADC) to decide who picks the party’s governorship ticket for the November poll.
In a press statement signed by Hon. Bamidele Ehindero, the group insisted that ‘outsiders’ cannot dictate to APC members in Kogi state.
Ehindero stated that moves by some persons masquerading as APC stakeholders to screen some aspirants they consider fit and proper for Governorship of Kogi State is ridiculous.
“At a recent meeting, the conveners clearly stated that they will screen out any aspirant that had prevented an Okun man from being in Lugard House hitherto.
“Though they lack constitutional right to do what they are doing but we want to call on the party executives at the National Secretariat to distance themselves from this screening exercise by ADC members and we also want them to dissociate themselves from this illegality.
“The most annoying of all is that 80% of the people doing this act are not registered members of APC in Western Senatorial District of Kogi State and neither are they members of our political party APC.
“We hereby call on all peace loving members of APC in Western Senatorial District of Kogi State to shun this kangaroo Committee as it is out to anoint a particular candidate and to execute vengeance on some APC members and aspirants.
“The people that are orchestrating this character are members of ADC and they are using this move to destabilize our party together with their diaspora sponsors,” the statement read.
Ehindero called on all APC governorship aspirants and members to ignore the screening.
