Massive crowd of supporters on Saturday thronged the Quaibo Secondary school, Playing- Ground, Idah, to witness the official launch of the governorship campaign of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), in Kogi State.
APC supporters from all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state besieged the venue to show solidarity to their candidate in the forthcoming poll.
Governor Yahaya Bello is the states’ APC flag bearer for the November 16 governorship poll, while Chief Edward David the Deputy Governor is his running mate.
All available space at the popular and VIP stands of the facility were taken at the event forcing hundreds of supporters to quart at the front rows.
Security personnel had difficulties controlling the surging crown, as the main bowl of the arena was also packed full with no space to maneuver.
The governor who is seeking for re-election, in his address, urged his supporters to work hard towards the victory of the party; saying that the party will go on door to door and village to village campaign so as to make sure that the APC is re-elected.
Kayode Fayemi, the Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, his Kwara State counterpart, AbdulRahman Abdulrazak and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, were also at the rally.
Also at the rally were, the Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani, former Governor of Bauchi State, Mahammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Serving Senators, House of Representatives members and the APC National Women leader, Hajiya Salamatu Baiwa and all members of the APC National Working Committee, among others.
Osinbajo, while presenting the APC flag to Yahaya Bello, said the party’s candidate would emerge winner by November 16.
The Vice President appealed to the electorate to come out en masse to vote for Bello.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole described Bello as a tested and trusted politician, who has performed excellently during his first tenure.
He said the party’s candidate has passion for the sustainable development of the state, adding that he would not disappoint the people of the state.
“If you know where this state was during the reign of the PDP and now, you will understand there is need to vote for Bello for continuity.
“Bello has the capacity to translate his vision into reality and that is why I am appealing to you to vote for him during the election and he will not disappoint, Oshiomole said”.
Represented by the former Governor of Bauchi State, Muhammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, who is the Chairman of the National Campaign Council, said a vote for APC candidate during the election would bring more development to the state.
He said if elected, Bello would move the state forward and consolidate on his positive achievements.
Also speaking, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, described Bello as a reliable and committed person, who would bring more development to the state.
She said Bello would provide employment for the youths and also continue with his good work.
DR. Aliyu who described Kogi as a progressive state, urged the residents to support the party to win the election.
She said, “If you love President Buhari and the party, vote Bello.
In his own remarks, Niger State Governor, Sani Bello, appealed to the residents to vote for the party for continuity.
Gov. Bello urged the party’s members and the residents of the state to support APC to win the election.
He described Bello as a trustworthy and loyal party member. He said those who love President Buhari and APC should vote massively for Bello on November 16.
