The Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, Leke Abejide, has expressed his support for All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Abejide, who is representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), noted that the former Lagos State governor is the best among all the presidential candidates and the only one who can make Nigeria really prosperous.
The lawmaker restated his support and commitment to Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidential victory, despite being a high-ranking ADC member in the House of Representatives.
Abejide spoke during his surprise visit to the APC Kogi West stakeholders’ meeting at the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) office at the weekend in Abuja.
The meeting was at the instance of the Secretary of the Tinubu/Shetima PCC, James Abiodun Faleke.
Addressing members of the party at the meeting, Abejide said his loyalty to Asiwaju Tinubu remained unshaken, having received help from the APC stalwart on several occasions, even though they belong to different parties.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains my candidate and benefactor. I have every reason to support Asiwaju and the APC.
“Look at what he has been able to achieve in Lagos State. This clearly shows he possesses the capacity and the strength to turn the fortune of Nigeria around. I don’t mind whose ox is gored. I don’t care even if it will cost me my mandate. My constituents and I will support and vote for Asiwaju in 2023,” he said.
Addressing some APC youths from Kogi West, the lawmaker urged them to remain united in their steadfastness and support Asiwaju’s presidential candidacy to ensure his victory in 2023.
Abejide donated N3.5 million as his support for the APC youths at the event.
According to him, the money is to be shared among the youths in the seven local government areas under Kogi West Senatorial District.
Responding on behalf of the youths, Secretary of APC PCC National Youth Mobilisation Directorate (Northcentral), Alamoh Samuel, thanked Abejide for supporting Asiwaju Tinubu.
He described the lawmaker as a true friend of Kogi masses.
Samuel said the youths were aware of the lawmaker’s numerous empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes for his constituency and even in other places.
He urged the Federal lawmaker to extend his good gestures to other senatorial districts of the state.
