Hon. Blessing Bala Ogwu, Lokoja Local Government, Council Leader has distributed food items and cash to the lessprevelled in the 10 wards to celebrate Christmas.
Among items distributed were bags of rice, macaroni, spaghetti, assorted condiments, and cash.
Oguwu, while distributing the items on Wednesday, said that the gesture was borne out of her desire to improve the standard of living of the people of the constituency during, and after, the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The lawmaker said that the Bible preaches generosity, hence her continued determination to change the lives of the people of her local government area.
“I have decided to distribute these items to my people in the spirit of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“This gesture will go a long way in improving on the standard of living of the people.
“I want them to celebrate Christmas and New Year with smiles on their faces and with joy,” she said.
Oguwu urged the people to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by living in unity, peace and be their brother’s keepers at all time.
She congratulated Christians and other Nigerians in advance on the celebrations of the Christmas and New year.
The Council Leader urged residents and indigenes of the area to keep safe during the festive period.
The lawmaker assured the people of quality and sound representation at the LG legislature in the interest of development.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke at the occasion, extolled Ogwu’s gestures, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the Council area.
“We really appreciate this kind gesture and we pray God grants her heart desires and cause the spirits of all the people she has provided food for pave greater ways for her,” they said.
