Top politicians, government officials in Kogi State and other dignitaries have eulogised Hajiya Ramatu Abdulsalam a.k.a Ya Lare, mother of Gimba Abdulsalam, who died and was buried on April 24, 2023.
The death of the deceased was described as a great loss to the entire Lokoja community by bigwigs at the Fidau prayers held on Sunday at Madabo Center, in Lokoja.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lokoja, Sheikh Aminu Shaban who extolled the virtues of the deceased.
In a brief sermon, Sheikh Shaban reminded all of God’s commandment that they should take good care of their parents, dead or alive.
He admonished children to remember their dead parents through acts of charity and kindness to the needy.
In his own tribute, Prince Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, eldest son of the late Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammodu Kabir Maikarfi 111, said Late Hajiya Ramatu Abdulsalam was a good mother not only to her children, but to the entire children that came across her.
He noted that the deceased would be remembered for her unwavering supports, counsels, and encouragement to her children.
Prince Kabir, while pointing out that her demise has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill, enjoined the entire family to draw inspiration from the fact that she lived a fulfilled life.
He prayed for God to give the family members the fortitude to bear the loss and also grant the late Hajiya Ramatu Abdulsalam eternal rest.
In his own remarks, Hon. Mohammed Ibukun Abubakar Bukky, a Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, in Kogi State, thanked Allah for a life well spent by late Hajiya Ramatu Abdulsalam and described her death as a great loss to the family.
He said although Hajiya Ramatu had passed on, her immortality has been secured “by her many good deeds etched permanently in the hearts of all whose path she crossed”.
Bukky described the deceased as a great mobilizer, pointing out that “because of her magnanimity in philanthropy, fear of Allah, ability to communicate through genuine interfacing and interaction with people, she earned the respect of all who came her way”.
Some of the highlights of the event included the reciting of the whole Koran by Islamic scholars, lectures rendered in Hausa language by some Islamic Clerics in which they urged Nigerian leaders to emulate the life of service to humanity as exemplified by late Hajiya Ramatu Abdulsalam.
The “Celebration of Life” was made colourful by the huge turnout of prominent men and women, traditional title holders, politicians, traders and dignitaries from all walks of life.
