HIJRAH 1446: Kogi Council Of Ulama’u Felicitates With Muslim Community On Islamic New Year

The Kogi State branch of the Nigeria Council of Ulama’u (KSCU) has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the inception of the new Islamic Year or Hijrah Calendar 1446AH.

Alhaji Idris Baba’Ango, the Secretary-General of KSCU, congratulated the muslim community in a statement issued on Saturday in Lokoja.

Baba’Ango said that July 7, marked the commencement of Muharram 1, 1446AH, as declared by the Sultan of Sokoto.

“We particularly wish the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, a prosperous Hijrah year.

“The Council therefore counsels on the observance of the voluntary fasting of which the Prophet (SAW) strongly urges Muslims to undertake, particularly that Nigeria is enmeshed in too many challenges, hence the need for the supreme intervention through devotions.”

Baba’Ango however called on the faithful to remain God-fearing and committed to the worship of Allah, be law-abiding at all times, peaceful and industrious.

“The Council enjoins Muslims and everyone to stop and ponder deeply on the countless challenges confronting humanity today, in order to retrace our steps and renew our faith in Allah

“Muslims are also reminded not to start up the New Year in celebrations repugnant to Islamic tenets.

“While the Council congratulates the Muslims for witnessing the celebration, it enjoins them to remain law-abiding and call on all the Council branches in the 21 LGAs, Imam’s and scholars to offer special prayers for Allah’s intervention in the current hardship been faced by the Ummah.

The Council applauded and appreciated governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his support to religious organizations in the state.

The Council invites the Muslim Ummah and the general public to the Islamic New Year Grand  celebration scheduled to hold on Sunday 14th July, 2024 at Muhammadu Buhari Square, Lokoja at 10am prompt.
