*** Promises better representation

Ahead of 2023 general elections, a staunch member of Lokoja Forum of Patriots, (LFP), Hon. Ibrahim Sulaiman who is fondly called Barazana, has formally declared interest to contest the All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries for the Lokoja 1 Constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly on Monday.
Barazana, who made the official declaration during a consultative meeting with APC executives in Lokoja local government area, led by the Chairman, Alhaji Maikudi Bature, said he has the experience and contacts to provide quality representation to the people at the State Assembly.
He said he had always been deeply involved in activities aimed at promoting peace, good governance and development in the state, stressing that his desire to serve at the State Legislature was to further better the lot of the people for the greater benefit of the society.
He explained that the interactive meeting was to interface with the local government and ward executives of the party and officially inform them of his intention to represent the people of Lokoja 1 in the State Assembly.
He said: “I will strive for good governance and drive development to Lokoja 1. Besides the primary responsibility of lawmaking, all that the oversight function of a lawmaker entails, will be vigorously pursued”.
“I will explore every opportunity available to ensure my people get what belongs to them in the area of qualitative health care delivery, qualitative and affordable education, youths and sports development, as well as women empowerment.”
The aspirant added: “Our primary responsibility has always been to give adequate representation to our people and better interaction; even though we’re there to make laws that will bring about the enhancements of the socio-economic well-being of our people, as well as carry out our appropriation and oversight of the same funds appropriated for the executive and the system.
“All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party of the progressive with the interest of the people at heart at every point in time and if I’m given the mandate, I’ll deliver.”
Barazana described members of the local government and ward executives as “super delegates”, maintaining that their individual and collective support was required to actualize his ambition.
Responding, the APC Chairman, Alhaji Maikudi Bature commended Ibrahim Sulaiman Barazana for coming to interface with statutory delegates in the local government area, ahead of the party primaries, and expressed happiness over the caliber of personalities in the local government area that are showing interest in various electoral contests.
“We are highly honoured by the visit of a great personality to interface with the party on his aspiration. What makes party strong is when great men like Hon. Ibrahim Sulaiman Barazana contest.
“The message is that APC is a family affair and the party will give a neutral platform for every aspirant. I urge all to play by the rules. I have that strong belief that after the primaries, the party will come out stronger. This is just the beginning of several politicking in the year”.
Some supporters of the Ibrahim Sulaiman Barazana State Assembly project, who came in their numbers, commended his aspiration to represent the people of Lokoja 1, saying that his antecedents will give him victory.
At the APC secretariat, Barazana was welcomed by hordes of supporters and accompanied by prominent politicians when he officially express his interest to contest in the 2023 House of Assembly election.
