Supreme Court Verdict: Kogi  SWOFON Congratulates Ododo On Victory

The Kogi State chapter of Small Scale Women Farmers Organization (SWOFON), has congratulated the State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on his victory at the Supreme Court.

In a felicitation letter addressed to Governor Ododo, signed by the state SWOFON President, Hajiya Rukayat Larai Ahmed, described the Apex Court’s judgement which duly affirmed your election “as the Executive Governor of Kogi State “as the testimony that Allah has answered the prayers of the overwhelming majority of the people of the state who massively voted for you on November 11, 2023.”

According to SWOFON, “the Court’s final and total verdict also serves as a Go-ahead flag for you (Governor Ododo) to continue with your laudable and selfless leadership which you have rendered to the people of the state in the last few months.”

As the Umbrella Association of Women Farmers in the state, we pledge our continued cooperation and support and look forward to working with your administration towards the development of Kogi State and the women farmers.” It added.

The letter further stated that; “Kogites were pleased with the Supreme Court judgement because the governor was seen to have hit the ground running immediately he assumed office, taking various laudable steps to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and reposition the state for greater heights.

“We congratulate our amiable, pragmatic, proactive and reliable governor, His Excellency, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the Supreme Court verdict affirming him as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State. The judgement came as the final affirmation of the mandate graciously given to you by the people of Kogi State as the man they trust and believe can meaningfully transform the state and build a Kogi of their dream. Our women farmers have no doubt in the capacity of the governor to consolidate on the achievements of the immediate administration and initiate projects that will better their lives.

Furthermore, the Kogi State SWOFON Presided used this medium to appeal to all tiers of government to facilitate the availability and accessibility of farming lands specifically for smallholder women farmers cooperatives.

Rukayat Ahmed said the gesture would enhance women chances of land ownership and control and boost food production.

SWOFON, is a coalition of women farmers across Nigeria working together to promote women friendly agricultural policies and increasing women’s access to land, farm inputs and funding aimed at improving productivity.
