The Like Mind Alliance Pressure Group led by Chief Richard Asaje has called on the Yoruba speaking people of Nigeria to have a second thought on their recent verbal attacks and criticism of the of the Tinubu led government.
He advised them to borrow a leaf from the song of late Hubert Ogunde in which he sang the hit track ” Yoruba ronu ooo ” .
Chief Asaje said the Yoruba people should have a rethink on how they quickly come out to condemn their son’s and daughters who are occupying prominent positions ” especially , politicians and public servants “.
He however agreed , that it is globally acknowledged that the Yoruba race is among ” if not the most sophisticated group in our nation.
Interestingly , history has shown over the years that the Yoruba people are unbiased when it comes to correcting or passing criticism against anti people government policies, and those behind it ” even if it is One of their own.
This attribute though noble , has been having negative effects on the fortunes of it’s people in the nation called Nigeria.
He argued that while other ethnic groups come out to defend their own , even when it is evidently clear that they are guilty of accusations pointed at them , the Yoruba will not spare their own of verbal assaults.
They are always leading the pack when it comes to condemning their own.
Going down memory lane , we will all recollect it was a Yoruba Man , late Justice Sowemimo who accepted the hatchet job of sentencing another Yoruba Man , the late Pa Awolowo to jail for a phoney treason and felony charge.
We will equally not forget what another Yoruba Man Olusegun Obasanjo did to Tinubu when he was Governor of Lagos State simply because he (Tinubu) created more local governments in the State, to accelerate rural development , as he withheld government allocations due to the State throughout his stay in office.
This ignoble attitude has reared its ugly head again, as majority of the people and State’s who are leading the legion of groups attacking this government are the Yoruba people and State’s.
“We might seem to be inciting ethnic war ” but that is far from it “.
Have we ever seen a Northerner come out to publicly or otherwise ” even with the loads of evidence against them as the most corrupt and nepotist ethnic group in the nation ” to condemn their own ” never “.
Did Sultan Saad Abubakar , Sultan of Sokoto and spiritual head of the Muslims ever come out to condemn the insecurity and corruption that trailed the Buhari administration for 8 years .
Did the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) the Northern sociopolitical Apex body did same ” never “.
It is only the Yoruba sociopolitical groups eg Afenifere , Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) , Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and several others too numerous to mention that will come out at every given opportunity to condemn their own kinsmen.
How many Northern bodies or individuals came out to condemn super cop Abba Kyari when he was fished out for corruption and money laundering ” none “.
Speaking on behalf of the group , Chief Asaje enjoins all well meaning Yoruba people to put an end to the open condemnation of the Tinubu led administration .
He said that Tinubu is taking the right steps in the right direction, as all his policies are aimed at correcting the ills of governance that the Northern feudalistic cabal and their collaborators in the South have institutionalized in our nation.
On a final note , the elder Statesman, said that rather than join the bandwagon of those attacking this government , the Yoruba nation” irrespective of party or religious difference should come out enmass in defense of their son ” BOLA Ahmed Tinubu”.
He frowned at those clamouring for a military take over , by quoting the late sage Pa Awolowo ” who said the worst democacy is best than the best military junta “.
He advised that the Yoruba nation should come out , making use of every available means of information to drum up massive support for the Tinubu led administration globally .
