To reiterate his commitment and determination to contest the 2023 Lokoja 2 State Constituency election in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Yusuf Umar, who is one of the leading aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted his letter to Intent.
Umar who is fondly called Assignment made his intention known to the local government party executive members Saturday when he presented letter of intent signifying his decision to present himself as flag bearer of the APC in the next House of Assembly election.
Speaking at the brief ceremony held at the party secretariat, Umar said his decision was based on calls from various political and other interest groups across the Lokoja 2 State Constituency urging him to contest the poll.
Stakeholders of the APC from across the entire 5 wards of the Lokoja 2 State Constituency have already endorsed the Umar-Assignment ticket for 2023, indicating that the aspirant enjoys massive support within the APC hierarchy.
Reacting to Umar’s declaration of intent, Chairman of the Lokoja chapter of the APC, Alhaji Maikudi Bature said with the presentation of letter of intent by the aspirant, the process of transition has commenced.
He urged other aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the APC to also follow suit, saying the party will guarantee level playfield for all aspirants.
Umar was accompanied to the party secretariat by a large crowd of supporters, including stakeholders of the party from all the 5 wards that makes up the State Constituency.
Recall that Aliyu Yusuf Umar was endorsed by all APC stakeholders from his ward, (Kakanda Ward), last weekend during his consultation visit.
