Global Women Summit: Hajia Rashida Bello Assures Women Will Remain Top Priority

Woman and children of Kogi State have been assured of Government’s readiness to continue to make them a top priority in the next Administration.

The wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Rashida Bello, made the disclosure at the first Kogi State Global Women Summit/Unveiling of Women Effect Initiative International Project 2040 and Conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degree and Awards held at the Reverton Hotel Lokoja.

The wife of the Executive Governor alongside other notable personalities bagged Honourary Doctorate Degrees and Awards.

Hajia Rashida disclosed that women and children have enjoyed unhindered access to quality health and education, assured that the incoming administration of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo will ensure sustainability.

The Governor’s wife who was represented by Hon. Sandra Mimi, SSA on Women Affairs to Gov. Yahaya Bello, assured that she will in or out of office continue to contribute to the growth and development of women and children in the State.

Hajia Rashida urged political actors in the State to ensure a violent free election for the sake of women and children in the forthcoming Governorship election.

The Governor’s wife assured that the APC Governorship Candidate will win the November 11 Governorship election with a landslide, said it was on purpose that the APC ensured that someone from the system succeeds Gov. Yahaya Bello.

She disclosed that coming from the system will enable the incoming Governor not to waste time in studying the books, but to hit the ground running.

Hajia Rashida assured that Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo will consolidate on the good works done by Gov. Bello in placing women and children in the front burner in accessing health, education and in occupying sensitive offices in politics and governance.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, Arewa Abiola Abimbola, the Director General of women’s Effect Initiative International, praised Gov. Bello for making women occupy 27% of his cabinet, described Gov. Bello as a woman advocate.

She described WEII as an organization advocating for a better home, society and generation through reorientation, shift in thinking, hope and help for the women folks.

In his remarks at the Conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees and Awards, Dr. Magnus Ugo, Registrar, Weldios University of Management and Technology, Cotonou, Benin Republic, described women as the fulcrum of the bedrock of a sustainable development.

He urged for an enabling environment for women and children in the State to ensure that they maximize their potentials, praised the efforts of Gov. Yahaya Bello for his laudable achievements in education, health and in women and Youth Empowerment.

Highlights of the occasion was the conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees on Hajia Rashida Bello, Dr. Umar Shaibu Oricha, Arewa Abiola Abimbola, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, Olayinka Braimoh, Barr. John Olatunde-Ayeni and Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu, Minister for Steel Development.

Others who bagged Honourary Doctorate Degrees includes, Prince Musa Aliyu Ohiaba, Mr. Joshua Dare Monday, Hon. Richard Osaseyi and Hon. Okuwaseyi Victor Bello, Member, Representing, Kabba Bunu State Constituency in the State Assembly.
